What a way to honor your son's memory. As a parent of a chronically ill child (my daughter has Cystic Fibrosis) I know personally the hardships parents have. Thank You!!! Julie

Dear Joe & Family I wanted to drop a line to say thank you...I kept up with andrew and your family thru caringbridges and was always amazed at your strength and determination...On December 21, 2008 my son was involved in a critical car accident on the way to a fire call. He was flown to christiana with life threating injuries and spent weeks in the CICU..during that time I often thought of your family and it inspired me and helped throughout the long days and nights of the hospital halls and after we returned home and the months of home care for my son...on Sunday my family attended the Delaware Outstanding Teen paegent and to our delight there was a basket donated by a contestant who was a friend of Andrew's...both of my children asked for me to bid whatever it took to get the basket to which I did and my daughter proudly wore the B+ shirt to school and they both wear the braclets...I just wanted to say thank you for the inspiration and determination your family inspires in others...

So many things I'd like to say and could say, but it comes down to this...hold onto your children. Love them, care for them, treasure their ideas, never take them for granted, never take your time with them for granted, never look away for a second, for a blink of an eye, a second of a day in time, can change your life forever. Tell them you love them every time they get out of the car, walk out the door or go to sleep at night. Always let them know you are there. Peace out!

Mr. McDonough, I was at the B+ variety show with Julianne Domineli tonight, (I'm Valerie Lane, Miss Brandywine's Outstanding Teen 2009), and I just wanted to thank you for sharing your story, and Andrew's story with me. I was so moved by your speech it was incredible. I had no idea that this foundation meant this much!! I mean, I have certainly seen my fair share of B+ t-shirts walking around the malls, but to actually fully understand and learn about Andrew and his family was a privilege. I'll never put my head down on my pillow the same way again, and I wanted to let you know that. My family is fortunate enough to be healthy, but I have realized that it won't stay like this forever and we need to embrace the time we have together, because we not have as many tomorrows as we think we do. I find my today's with a bunch of empty yesterdays, and always planning for tomorrow. Now, I will make everyday have meaning, even if I simply hold a door for a stranger at the mall. Thank You so much for inspiring me, and I will now wear my B+ shirt with pride, and know what it means to Live Like Andrew...

Hello Joe - My best friend, Maureen, is the mother of an incredible young man named Alex Blythe. Today's his 14th birthday and I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking some time to personally stop by his hospital room at AI DuPont yesterday and visit with him. His mom said he was so ecstatic about meeting you and is thrilled with his gifts from B+. I've also noticed the outpouring of care & concern from many of your supporters on his CaringBridge and I think it's a true testament to you and Andrew that so many would become involved in Alex's story as well. As you know, he now calls himself AB+(Alex Blythe+) and his attitude is wonderful. As I live out here in Southern CA, I cannot be there in person right now but it soothes and pleases me to know that so many others can be and again, I just want to express my sincere gratitude! I'm spreading the word about B+ out here as well and telling everyone Andrew's story! God Bless You ALL! Dee

I am so happy that I found your site through a mutual friends caring bridge website. I am deeply saddened that you no longer have your Andrew here on Earth but we believers know he is still very much ALIVE. God Bless you for having the energy to start a foundation in his honor. I am truly amazed at the out-pouring of love and support you all have received. My daughter, Katie, was diagnosed with stage 4 Wilm's tumor on Nov 19,2007. She is in remission (9 months)and has been a bit of celebrity here in my city as well. She has been featured on the news 2 times and spoken at many different engagements to help raise awareness for pediatric cancer. We will definitely be ordering our B+ gear and help spread the word. I just love that!! Deanna Doty www.caringbridge.org/visit/katiedoty
