Do More 24 – ONE DAY OPPORTUNITY
The United Way of Delaware hosts a one day campaign to engage members of the community to give back of their time, talent, and treasure. Today, June 1st is THE day! If you’re interested in making a donation in the Do More 24 campaign, click here for the specific link for The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation. Some lucky donor in the Do More 24 campaign will win a 2017 Kia Soul. Could be you! 😉
Cases for Smiles Launches Coping Website
While we don’t normally share all of the great work of other childhood cancer charities (we would run out of room on our website), I want to share a new ‘coping’ site that has been developed for families living through the journey of childhood cancer. This site has been developed by Gavin and Cindy Kerr and their Cases for Smiles charity. Unfortunately, I think too often the psychosocial needs of the child and family are overlooked as the biological/physiological needs are cared for. The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation has supported research in the psychosocial realm as well as ‘basic science’ and we applaud Cases for Smiles for this new initiative.
Starboard B+ VIP Black Tag Auction
Thanks to Aaron Dunphy, LowDigitTags.com, The Starboard, and our generous bidders, the 6th Annual Starboard B+ VIP Black Tag Auction was a smashing success on May 20th. The auction raised $21,000 which was a 35% increase over last year!
Dewey Beach Championship – Starboard Summer Slam
Speaking of The Starboard, we’re back to Dewey Beach this Saturday for the 2017 Dewey Beach Championship – Starboard Summer Slam! This Crossfit competition, hosted by Crossfit Wheelhouse, brings ‘boxes’ (gyms) together from surrounding states to compete. Please support their efforts by attending or donating to a team.
11th Annual B+ 5k Run/Walk
If running or walking is more your speed, join us on Wed. June 21st at 6:45pm for the 11th Annual B+ 5k at Andrew’s alma mater, Salesianum School. There will be a TON of free food and drink and we’ll honor our B+ Heroes (kids with cancer) at the end of the night. Please don’t procrastinate…sign up today by creating a team here or joining as an individual.
Finally, congratulations to the 14 members of the Boston University B+/Choose A Challenge team who climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro last week. This was not only a incredibly cool accomplishment for the BU students, but they also raised a lot of money that will be put to good use to help families struggling to pay bills while their child fights for his or her life.
They are certainly “Living Like Andrew”!
