It’s just amazing how much our world has changed in the last 2 weeks since I last posted.  Our world seems to change SO much each day.  PLEASE take COVID-19 seriously, regardless of your age or pre-existing health status.  This is real!

I came across a striking article about the impact of COVID-19 on our kids with cancer.  Please click here to read.

I have just been stunned by how many Social Workers contacted us this week asking if we’re “still in business”.  YES, of course we are.  But, sadly, so many of the smaller organizations that are resources for these Social Workers have shut down.  Thanks to you all, we are here for the families, but the burden on us is greater.  Yesterday, we gave out approximately $55,000 to help families pay their bills.

I want to ask for your prayers for a B+ Hero Dad.  B+ Hero Hayden’s Dad, Andrew, was heading home from ice hockey practice about 2 weeks ago when he had a massive heart attack. He was revived and put into a medically-induced coma to aid in his recovery.  He was making truly remarkable progress when he suffered a second heart attack last week.  He is on a ventilator in a Philadelphia hospital right now and may require a heart transplant. Helen, Andrew’s wife and Hayden’s Mom, is somehow juggling trying to keep her immunocompromised little girl free from COVID-19 while being there for her husband in the hospital, amidst many new regulations.

We received a very kind offer from another B+ Hero Dad (Mike) this afternoon.  Mike has an extra wall-mounted hand sanitizer with refills that he would like to offer to a family of a child with cancer.  Mike knows firsthand the stress of keeping a clean and somewhat sterile environment while your child battles and understands the shortages that we all face right now and the stress that this causes.  If you have a child with cancer and would like to take Mike up on his kind offer, please reach out to me at Joe@LiveLikeAndrew.org.

Please take precautions and stay safe.

B+
