BMW/DelVal Club Welcomes B+ Heroes to the Racetrack

For the second year in a row, the generous members of the Delaware Valley Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America are hosting B+ Heroes at NJ Motorsport Park on August 23rd.  The kids and their families will have rides in the race cars, followed by lunch at the track.  Club members host a banquet and auction, which raises money for B+.  This year they will be presenting B+ with a $15,000 donation!

MEET the PHIL. EAGLES at FIRESTONE Aug. 24th

Join us on Sunday, August 24th from 2pm-8pm at Firestone on the Wilmington Riverfront to meet Philadelphia Eagles players Darren Sproles, Brandon Boykin, and Eagles cheerleaders.  Get pictures and autographs and enjoy good food, drinks, and music.  Plus, meet members of the band "The Roots" ("Tonight Show").  And, if that's not enough, there will be great auction packages to bid on.

A portion of the proceeds will go to The B+ Foundation to help us help families of kids with cancer.

Childhood Cancer Awareness at Seasons Pizza

As they did last year, Seasons Pizza is joining forces with The B+ Foundation to raise awareness and money for the fight against childhood cancer in September - National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.  All 25 stores across DE/PA/NJ/MD will be participating!  Customers can add $1, $3, or $5 to their bill with donations coming to B+.  There will also be special promotions.  Show your appreciation by "liking" Seasons Pizza on Facebook at  https://www.facebook.com/SeasonsPizza .  They're trying to see how many new "Likes" they can get from now until the end of September.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month -- Events

  • Show support for the fight against childhood cancer by attending the Wilmington Blue Rocks baseball game on 8/28.  This is a special awareness and fundraising event hosted by "Fight for the Gold", a collaboration of several Delaware-area childhood cancer groups, including The B+ Foundation.  www.fightforthegoldde.org
  • "CureFest" - 9/21 - on the National Mall in Washington, DC.   The B+ Foundation will be joining other childhood cancer organizations from around the country to rally attention for our kids in "our" month.  Please contact Joe at Joe@LiveLikeAndrew.org if you'd be interested in attending and/or helping to staff our booth at the event.

High School Students Fight Cancer Too

We're so proud to have partnered with a long list of high schools this year who have organized dance marathons, a volleyball tournament, and a bonfire to raise money to fight childhood cancer.  Here's a list of the high schools so far this year:  Charter School of Wilmington, Appoquinimink HS, St. Georges HS, Wilmington Friends School, Tatnall School, Sanford, Tower Hill, Brandywine HS, Bernegat HS and Archmere Academy.

B+ Research Grants Yield Results

  • Funding from B+ has supported clinical trials at the Seattle Children's Ben Towne Center for Childhood Cancer Research where they currently have 4 patients in remission from a recurrence of ALL.
  • An article appeared in the January 2013 issue of Pediatrics, the journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics, about some exciting work being done by Dr. Ken Lucas and his team.  Please take a look at this work as featured in a Medical News Today article. As you'll see, The B+ Foundation was a lead funder of this research, along with Solving Kids Cancer and the Pierce Phillips Charity.
