15 YEARS!!!
15 YEARS!
Fifteen years ago this past Saturday, our horrible journey started. I woke up on January 29, 2007 with a son who was a little ‘under the weather’. When I finally closed my eyes later that day, my son was diagnosed with cancer, sepsis, and had gone into cardiac arrest. My brave son was literally fighting for his life. Fifteen years may sound like a long time ago…to me, it feels pretty recent.
SALSthon
Andrew loved his high school, Salesianum. I just wish he could have spent more time there. Ten years ago, we helped Salesianum start SALSthon, a charity event with Ursuline Academy (Ali’s school) and Padua. They change the beneficiary each year, but I am so happy to report that the beneficiary for the 10th Annual SALSthon will be The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation! I had the honor of speaking to the whole school on Friday and, wow, I was just so full of emotions. It’s hard to believe that some of those students weren’t even alive when Andrew was a freshman. I truly felt Andrew’s presence while speaking to his Salesian brothers and some of his former teachers. I hope you’re smiling down proudly, buddy!
Super Bowl LVI (yeah, the NFL can come after me for using the “official name”!)
B+ Ambassador - and Salesianum and University of Delaware grad - Troy Reeder will be playing in Super Bowl LVI as a starting linebacker for the Los Angeles Rams. As I told a reporter today, Troy is a great football player but an even nicer young man. Troy has hosted a B+ Hero Bowling Party, invited a B+ Hero onto the field, and has worn B+ cleats in an NFL game, among other things. I’m sorry if you’re a Bengals fan (I do like Joe Burrow, though), but I have to root for #51 on the Rams.
B+ Hero Family Feature
Taylor is a beautiful little 4 year old girl who has been diagnosed with cancer. The past 6 months have been particularly difficult for the family. Dad fell 20 feet off of a ladder. Fortunately, he survived. Taylor’s 20 year old brother tragically passed away and now Taylor has been diagnosed with Leukemia. Please pray for this family.
Make it a great week!
