Research Awards Announced!
Thanks to the efforts of our world-class Scientific Advisory Board, we are pleased to announce the selection of our 10 awardees from our current research grant cycle.
Research Update #1 (don’t cringe :)
When Chris, Ali, and I started The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation in 2007, we felt that it was important to be both reactive to the emergency financial needs of families of kids with cancer and proactive in the funding of cutting-edge childhood cancer research.
Peter & Amelia
Please take a minute to read Peter’s story. I’m glad that we not only were able to help lessen the financial burden, but equally importantly, we are providing much needed psychosocial support through our B+ Heroes Program.
Do You Know Anyone In Kentucky or Utah???
We join the charity, Smashing Walnuts, and Gabriella Miller’s family in asking for your support today…and it will only take a few minutes. Please read their urgent appeal.
Baby Bennett
An 8 month old baby should not have a brain tumor! It’s so cruel. Please read the note below from Bennett’s family.
Research Makes a Difference!
It’s been a very busy few weeks on the research front. Even though I’m not a scientist, I’ve learned so much over the past 17 years and I find the research so exciting.
Last Chance!
I don’t want anyone to experience a diagnosis of cancer for their child. Can you imagine hearing that BOTH of your twins have cancer???
Running to Make a Difference
Last Saturday, I did something that I never thought possible. I ran 20 miles as part of my training for the TCS New York City Marathon on Nov. 3rd.
All Kinds of Good Stuff!
While it’s hard for me to believe that this was our 18th golf outing, it was…and it was very successful.
Running for the B+ Heroes!
In less than 6 weeks, I will tackle the 26.2 mile NYC Marathon as part of the B+ Running Team. I plan to write 26 names on my arms as my motivation for each mile.
Take a Pause
Do you remember how much fun it was to splash in puddles when you were younger? It’s really kind of sad that we lose that spirit as we get older.
Happy Birthday Andrew!
Tuesday was Andrew’s 32nd birthday…unfortunately, we have observed the last 18 of them without Andrew here. There are no words to describe how much I miss my son. And, no, the pain NEVER goes away!
B+ Hero Vina, the Valedictorian
“Dear Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation, My name is Javin, though many know me as Vina. I am eighteen years of age and like Andrew, I was diagnosed with AML.
NIH/NCI Study
You make such a difference. We’re not “strangers”, we’re ‘friends we haven’t met yet’.
Take Me Out to the Ball Game
We have a wonderful group of young professionals that make up our NYC Chapter. In addition to a fun cocktail party in the spring, the group host several B+ Hero Families for a Yankees game
Summer Leadership Academy
We hosted about 40 B+ student leaders from all over the country for our annual Summer Leadership Academy.
B+ Explainer Video
“I think you’re an ‘A’” “What’s B Plus?” “Kids get cancer too?” “Do you help kids outside of Delaware?”
Missing Andrew
What is the ‘right’ thing to do on the anniversary of your child’s passing? There’s really not much you can do to ease that pain. For us, though, we go to a place that was special to Andrew…the Boardwalk in Ocean City, NJ.
Summer Fun
We had a beautiful night for the 18th Annual B+ 5k at Andrew’s school, Salesianum. Pictured below are some of our local B+ Heroes and Salesianum grad and Super Bowl Champion, Troy Reeder.
