B+ Updates

Most of the time, people think of The B+ Foundation as a charity that helps families of kids with cancer with financial assistance.  That's very true, of course.  What people don't always know, though, is that we provide a lot of moral support and non-financial help as well.

I want to introduce you to a great kid and new B+ Hero, Ryan.  Ryan was diagnosed 3 weeks ago with leukemia.  Yesterday, I had the honor of introducing Ryan to 2 friends of mine who have been through cancer.  Scott (l) is a professional race card driver who won the Rolex 24 hour race at Daytona this year and previously had Hodgkins Lymphoma.  Elijah (r) was diagnosed with cancer when he was 3 and is now a senior at the University of Delaware and Captain of the lacrosse team.  It was nice seeing the guys connect with Ryan and his Mom.  There was some good healthy food (pizza! :) and a lot of funny stories and firsthand insight.  I think Ryan is anxious to go for a ride with Scott in a race car and is looking forward to catching his first UD men's lacrosse game.  Ryan left our visit with a lot of swag from Scott & Elijah.

Thank you, Scott & Elijah, for giving up your time yesterday to meet with us.

New B+ Hero, Isabel

Isabel is an 8 year old girl who was diagnosed with Wilm's Tumor back in September.  She just finished radiation and is undergoing chemotherapy and will for several more months.  Unfortunately, the cancer has spread widely. Isabel is paralyzed from the waist down due to one of her tumors on her spine and her family has asked for financial help so that they can re-model the bathroom so that it is handicap accessible.

Please keep Isabel and all of our B+ Heroes in your thoughts and prayers this holiday season.  If you are so inclined to make a gift in lieu of holiday cards or wish to include them in your holiday giving this year, you can donate securely here.

B+ Childhood Cancer License Plate - Less than 30 needed!!!

I am pleased to finally :) report that we are down to needing less than 30 applications for our B+ Childhood Cancer Delaware license plate to be approved by the State.  Wow...this has been a lot more work than I expected.  There's no incremental cost to you.  If you'd like to help us spread awareness about the fact that kids get cancer too, please fill out this application and send it in to me.  Unless you have a vanity tag or black tag, why wouldn't you want it?  Please help us cross the finish line on this one.  Thanks!!!

Make it a great weekend!

Live Like Andrew.
