Celebrating Carly Bergstein
In 2008, the year after Andrew died, I approached University of Delaware Student Life personnel and Greek Presidents about partnering on a dance marathon to fight childhood cancer using the Penn State THON model. There was a small event, entering its second year, that was run by Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority and Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. I spoke on a few occasions with the AEPhi President, Carly Bergstein, and she was very generous and willing to work together to make the event bigger and better than ever. As perspective, UDance raised about $13,000 in 2008 and $2,252,000 in 2018-2019!!!
On July 23, 2012, Carly Bergstein joined us as a full-time employee in our then one person NYC office. Last summer, Carly was promoted to Executive Director and today we honor Carly for a decade working with us full-time and 14 years overall.
Carly has dedicated her life to Andrew’s foundation and the kids and family that we serve. I could not ask for a harder worker and better partner to help build The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation. When Carly joined us in 2012, we had annual revenue of $1.7MM…which was very impressive. In 2022, our annual revenue is expected to be about $7.5MM!!!
Carly, on behalf of Andrew, my family, all of our families of kids with cancer, and researchers across the world, THANK YOU!
