Childhood Cancer Awareness Month - B+ Day at Seasons Pizza
Come out today to any Delaware or Maryland Seasons Pizza restaurants for B+ Day. A portion of the sale of Lg and XL pizzas will go to The B+ Foundation and, as with the entire month, all customers will be invited to add $1, $3, or $5 to their bill to help us fight childhood cancer. Also, show this email or the flyer that's on our FB page and Seasons will donate an additional $3 to us today only.
Childhood Cancer Takes over Washington, DC
Last week was a REALLY big week in DC for the childhood cancer community. Carly, our NYC B+ Program Director, represented us at a White House meeting, a Hyundai Hope on Wheels dinner, CureFest on the National Mall, the Congressional Pediatric Cancer Caucus, the candlelight vigil at the White House, and several other important meetings. Your B+ Foundation was well-represented. We also had several University of Delaware students (UDance) who joined Carly to staff the table at CureFest. They had some great stories of several families of kids with cancer (from around the country) who came up to our booth to thank the B+ Foundation for the support that we have provided them.
Divide and Conquer
While Carly was handing everything in DC, I was speaking to AEPhi, ZBT, Sigma Chi, and AChiO at the University of Texas as part of the planning process for this year's B+ event on campus. Last year was a great start and we can't wait to build on that success. The ladies of AEPhi have done such an amazing job with their B+ Hero, Lisa Marie.
In between meetings, I was at the racetrack to see our special B+ race car under the direction of cancer survivor and B+ supporter, Al Carter. Al had a special hood with a gold ribbon for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Fans got to sign the hood in return for a donation of their choice. It was really cool to see and we raised a few thousand dollars that will go right to the families. Also, there was some nice press coverage to help us spread awareness.
Thank You Delaware State Sen. Greg Lavelle
For several years now, DE State Sen. - and big supporter of The B+ Foundation - has refused to accept a raise that the legislators gave themselves many years ago. Greg splits up his raise and donates it to several local charities. Once again, Greg has included The B+ Foundation in his generosity. Thank you very much, Greg!
