Fri. April 15th
I’ve got A LOT to cover today.
Don’t worry about the fear of a couple of raindrops and come out and join us for the inaugural “B+ College Classic” TOMORROW (Sat) at Kirkwood Soccer Club. Starting at 10am tomorrow morning, we have 6 great college men’s soccer teams (Delaware, Villanova, Temple, Lafayette, Monmouth, Navy) and 3 elite college women’s teams (Maryland, Villanova, Navy) playing. The men’s bracket is named The Andrew McDonough Bracket and the women’s side is The Amy Stevens Bracket. We’ll be finished by two before the heavy rain comes. I hope you’ll come and support the B+ College Classic. Please spread the word. More information can be found at www.BePositive.org.

Before or after joining us for the B+ College Classic, bring your car to Paul Campanella’s Auto & Tire Center on Augustine Cut-Off in Wilmington. Paul has decided to do a big B+ Foundation fundraiser and all proceeds from oil changes, tire rotations, and safety inspections goes to The B+ Foundation’s fight against childhood cancers Call Paul at 777-7170 to schedule an appointment or just drop by. There will also be hot dogs, snacks, and drinks. Check out the new Campanella’s Auto & Tire Center website at www.campanellas.com

After burning off calories watching college soccer and running your car down to Campanella’s 🙂 , it’s time for some treats. On Sunday, April 17th, from 10am-2pm, Aston, PA area kindergarteners are hosting a “Kindergarteners vs Cancer” bake sale to benefit The B+ Foundation. The bake sale, led by B+ Sibling Hero, Casey Callahan, will be held at the Green Ridge Fire House on W. Dutton Mill Rd in Aston, PA. Come out and scarf down some great treats while helping to fight childhood cancers. Thanks, Casey and friends!

Bear with me, one more REALLY important event. One of the coolest kids I’ve ever met is B+ Hero, Pearce Quesenberry. As many of you know, Pearce has her own foundation and does so much good for children battling cancer, particularly at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Coming up in a few weeks (4/30) is the “PQF 4 Miles of Hope” Run/Walk. Come out and join us for a great event. To sign up, please visit:

Featured Family of the Week
Before I get to the Featured Family, let me tell you that we just reviewed a record number of applications for assistance. Each Friday, we review the applications and I just finished writing 23 checks to families whose applications were approved for this week alone! The stories on these applications would turn your stomach. As much as I hate seeing these applications, I am proud that OUR foundation – yours and mine – is here to help them at this horrible time in their lives. I just wish there wasn’t such a need…
Jacob is a 16 year old boy fighting cancer. I would like to share with you a note that his Mom wrote on the Family Assistance Program application.
“I have not been able to pay the gas or electric bill in the past 3 months. I have borrowed money for food, gas, medicine, and parking while in the hospital. By the end of the month, I have no money. Being in the hospital and staying home with Jacob makes so many extra costs. I just need to catch up on the gas and electric.
Please, please help me. I don’t know how to keep everything going. I am desperate. I am a single mom just getting over colon cancer.”
Jacob needs heat and lights in his house and utilities for he and his Mom to cook food. This isn’t a luxury.
Thanks to you, The B+ Foundation is giving Jacob and his Mom financial assistance and, even more importantly, HOPE! Thank YOU!!!
