Fri. July 5th
I hope everyone enjoyed Independence Day…at least those of you reading this in the U.S.
Featured B+ Hero
I want to dedicate this Update to a brave young man, B+ Hero, Alex Blythe. While you were enjoying your BBQ yesterday, Alex was in a 4+ hour MRI.
Alex has battled cancer twice and was off treatment for about two years. On June 20th, I gave a special shout out to Alex at our 5k as he recently graduated from high school. Unfortunately, he was airlifted to A.I. duPont Hospital early yesterday and has now been diagnosed with a brain tumor. He is presently in surgery.
I was stunned when I got the call and was honored to visit with Alex’s family as he was in the MRI. There are no brilliant words to say to a family in this situation. Alex is a tough kid, but man, this sucks. He’s been through this battle twice and has dealt with a whole lot. One step at a time, pal.
It was very eerie being in the Alex’s PICU room last night as his room and the one next to it, were ‘our’ rooms for the last days of Andrew’s life.
