Genentech Awards $100,000 to The B+ Foundation

I am thrilled to share some exciting news with the B+ Nation!

As part of their commitment to fight childhood cancers, the Genentech Foundation has awarded a $100,000 grant to The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation to support the B+ Family Assistance Program.  The B+ Foundation is one of the leading providers of financial assistance to families of kids with cancer in the country.  We have helped families in 240 hospitals nationwide.

This very generous grant from Genentech will enable us to help so many more families and to lessen the financial burden that they face as their child fights cancer.  Genentech’s support is allowing these families to focus more attention on the health of their brave child rather than the mounting bills.  We are humbled and appreciative of the confidence that Genentech has shown in The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation.

The value of this support is best described by one of the families that The B+ Foundation has assisted in the past.

"We just wanted to take the time to thank you for your generous help.  You will never know how much your gift of $750 has meant to our family.  By replacing one two-week paycheck, my husband was able to take a leave of absence from his job.  He was able to spend the last few weeks of our daughter's life at home with her.  We will never forget or be able to repay you for this wonderful gift.  Thank you so much for your help and for allowing our family to make a few more precious memories before our sweet angel was called Home.  May God bless you all."  --B+ Hero McKenzie’s Mom

The Genentech Foundation was created by Genentech, a biotechnology company  based in South San Francisco, CA.  Support of childhood cancer patients is a significant focus of the Genentech Foundation.

Thank you, Genentech, for being on our team as we fight for the kids!
