Hitting "The Hill"

Last week, I had the honor of joining 250 families from across the country as we made our case to US Congressman and Senators to increase funding for childhood cancer research.  I would like to thank my Congressman, John Carney, for signing on as a Co-Sponsor of the Caroline Pryce Walker Conquer Childhood Cancer Reauthorization Act.  Time will tell how successful we were as the appropriations for NIH/NCI will be decided by Congress in the coming months.  A special thank-you to loyal B+ supporter, Deb Lewis, for taking a day off from work and spending her time and money to join us in this advocacy effort.  Thankfully, Deb and her family have not experienced childhood cancer and I think it's a very powerful message when someone like her says 'enough is enough' as well.  The picture below shows me and Deb following our White House tour before our Hill meetings.
