July 9 10

3 years ago today -- July 9, 2007 -- was a great day…as far as days in the PICU go.

3 years ago today:

• Andrew made some progress and we took a step in the right direction.  Andrew continued to talk and seemed more comfortable than the previous night. 

• We celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary…all four of us. Ali made it the best anniversary ever. Ali said she wanted some time alone with Andrew, so we stepped out of the hospital room for a few minutes. When we returned, we found Andrew’s room transformed into a romantic little restaurant complete with a candle (battery-powered, of course), a favorite meal of ours, and special ‘china’. The ‘china’ were 2 plates that had Ali’s and Andrew’s artwork on them from 1994. One of our most prized possessions. And, to top it off, we got the most beautiful card from Ali and Andrew that I have ever seen.

3 years ago today, we had no idea where life would take us -- certainly not the path we’re on now.  Through it all, I can’t imagine this experience without Chris. 

Chris, thanks for putting up with me for the past 27 years.  I love you and thank you for being the best mother to 2 incredible kids.
