June 2 10
Thank you all for the very kind postings and notes regarding this especially difficult time as Andrew’s graduation approaches. Your support means a lot to us!

Over the weekend, I had the privilege of introducing Andrew’s story and the B+ Movement to a lot of young soccer players and their families. On Saturday, I met with the FC Sting Bees (U14 Girls) from Northern NJ and West Chester Co, NY. While it’s always difficult to relay our story, I felt a real connection to the girls and their families. I think they really “got it”. I have to admit that I felt bad that I left many of them in tears, though. :( They seem like a really great bunch of kids and I’m confident that they are going to “Live Like Andrew” (even more so than they already are doing.) Thanks, Coach Rachael, for giving me this opportunity.
On Monday, Chris, Ali, and I presented the Andrew McDonough Trophy to the U14 Boys Champions at the FC Delco Players Cup in Downingtown, PA. This trophy used to be named for a professional soccer player from the area, but it now (and hopefully forever) will bear Andrew’s name. I’m sure Andrew is smiling about that. Two outstanding teams, Cincinnati (OH) Cup and the Montclair (NJ) Gauchos, battled to a tie through regulation and two overtime periods on a brutally hot artificial turf field on a very hot day. Cincinnati squeezed out the win in Penalty Kicks. Both teams played great and I was honored to address them following the game. Ironically, anyone remember where my Heroes, Ali & Andrew, were born? Montclair/Glen Ridge, NJ. I think the Montclair families were surprised to learn of this bit of trivia. Congratulations to both teams!

Two weeks from tomorrow is our “4th Annual B+ Fighting Childhood Cancer 5k Run/Walk”. We’ve got to finish strong. Please create a team, join a team, or if you’re not local or not going to be around here, sponsor one of the teams (my personal suggestion would be “Andrew’s Angels”! ) The key to our fundraiser - and fun - is to send at least 10 emails out to your family and friends and ask for their participation in some capacity. Thanks!
