June 8 10

I would like to thank Sean O’Sullivan and Kristen Moses of The Wilmington (DE) News-Journal for the feature story they did on our Foundation in last Sunday’s paper and online edition.  I greatly appreciate the respect that you showed to Andrew and our mission to fight childhood cancer.  While I don’t desire attention personally, I think media coverage of our Foundation and childhood cancer is important to opening people’s eyes to these terrible and under-funded diseases.

In our efforts to raise money for the battle against childhood cancers, we have 9 days left to raise money for our “4th Annual Fighting Childhood Cancer 5k” on Thurs. June 17th.  We hope that everyone reading this Journal Update will participate in some fashion — you can create a team, join a team, sign up as an individual, or support us from afar if you are not local or cannot make it for whatever reason.  If you’re looking for a team to make an online donation to, please consider “Andrew’s Angels”, led by Ali.  Please take 2 minutes to forward the link below to everyone in your address book to ask for their support.  If a lot of people do a little, it’s amazing what we can accomplish.

We still someone to step forward and set up teams for:

  • Salesianum - Classes of 2011, 2012, & 2013

  • Padua Academy

  • Archmere Academy

  • Brandywine HS

  • St. Elizabeth’s HS

  • St. Mark’s HS

  • Silverside Swim Club

  • Concord Soccer Club

  • Hockessin Soccer Club

  • Kirkwood Soccer Club

There are many, many more teams that need to be set up, but these are some of the bigger groups that haven’t been started yet.  Thanks, in advance, for your support.

Thank you very much to the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Program for inviting me to speak at your closing luncheon in Dover this past Sunday.  The HOBY Ambassadors are a very impressive group of young people and I was honored to be your speaker.  I look forward to working with you for years to come.

Thanks, again, for all of the kind words of support as we get through a particularly difficult time.
