Making Progress!

B+ Hero Will

“I can't thank you enough for your generosity with your recent donation. Feb 21, 2023, the day of my 13 month old son’s cancer diagnosis, was the worst day imaginable and every day since has been like living a nightmare. Working and paying bills becomes an afterthought. After a few weeks, however, you realize that those bills still need to be paid and that only adds to the stress. People and organizations like yours are like little angels sent to help ease the burden. One silver lining to this situation has been seeing how many good people there are in the world that are truly empathetic to others. So thank you again, and i assure you Will is going to reach out and thank you personally one day. He will grow up being constantly reminded of the generosity of people like you, that I can promise you.”

B+ Hero Charlie

“Thank you to Be Positive and all of their generous donors and volunteers. Our 3 year old daughter, Charlie, has been battling stage 4 germ cell cancer for 7 months. Our fight is continuing with a move closer to our hospital for her safety during high dose chemotherapy. Your generosity in helping with our mortgage takes a huge stressor off our plate. No one can plan for something like this, including financially, and your organization has helped us tremendously. I’ve included a photo of Charlie. She’s the happiest little girl and she’s so excited to put this all behind her.”

Super Successful 17th Annual B+ 5k

The weather cooperated, B+ Nation turned out, our new course was well-received, and our 1,100 participants raised about $80,000 and counting. Most importantly, we honored our local B+ Heroes and Sibling Heroes. It was a great night and we thank all of our dedicated volunteers and generous sponsors.

Coalition Against Childhood Cancer (CAC2) Celebrates 10 Years!

About 12 years ago, a dedicated member of the childhood cancer community - Bob Piniewski - reached out to me about forming a coalition of like-minded childhood cancer charities. The belief was that we can be more successful in our mission if we work together since the childhood cancer community is very splintered (I.e. by geography, disease group, mission). Bob then reached out to another bereaved Dad, Andy Mikulak, and off we went. We had weekly conference calls every Friday for about 18 months before roping in a great lady, Dr. Vicki Buenger, and we held our first meeting in Washington, DC. During the next year, we were asked if another group effort could join us and we, of course, welcomed them. We were building momentum and the name changed from PAC2 to Project Collaborate to CAC2.

Today, CAC2 consists of over 200 childhood cancer charities, individual members, and other Associate Members (including pharma companies). This week, at the CAC2 Annual Summit held in Atlanta, we celebrated the NUMEROUS accomplishments that this collaboration has accomplished. I can’t imagine that there’s been a more successful cause-minded collaborative than CAC2. I’m very proud to say that The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation is a small part of this great effort. Congratulations and thank you to all of the Members of CAC2!

Thank you very much for your support of Andrew’s Foundation.
