Featured Family of the Week
I’d like you to meet Liam. The “scuba dude” (see picture) is almost 11 months old and has already been through 4 rounds of chemotherapy for a Rhabdoid tumor. Liam’s Mom wanted to tell you:
“I truly feel like we’ve had a place to turn to in The B+ Organization. I have so much thanks in my heart for you and your donors. Liam is halfway through his scheduled chemo treatments and many days he is doing very well. But, it is a hard road at times. He is a brave boy, just like your Andrew.”
If you’d like to leave an encouraging message for Liam and his family, please visit his website at:

What Makes September Special???
Did you know that September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month?
As part of this special time to increase awareness and funds for our battle against childhood cancer, The B+ Foundation is pleased to announce a new partnership with Seasons Pizza. Seasons is a 25 restaurant chain in DE, MD, PA, and NJ. There will be two components to our September program:
1. EVERY day in Sept, all customers – whether you dine in or call for take-out – will be prompted with the question “Would you like to add $1, $3, or $5, to your order to help The B+ Foundation fight childhood cancer?” Please patronize Seasons in Sept and remind the staff, if they forget, about the B+ Childhood Cancer Program in their restaurants. There will be table tent cards in the restaurants and flyers on the take-out/delivery orders. We should open a LOT of eyes to Childhood Cancer and, hopefully, raise some much-needed money.
2. Mark your calendars for Mon. Sept. 30th for “B+ Day at Seasons”. You’ll see the waitstaff decked out in B+ shirts and $1 from every large and XL pizza will go to The B+ Foundation. So, whether you dine in or get delivery, plan on having pizza on Sept 30 at Seasons.
Our hope is that this will be a successful program for Seasons as well, and many other merchants will jump on our program in 2014.

7th Annual B+ Golf Outing
7th Annual B+ Dinner & Auction
On Monday, Sept. 23rd, we will host our 7th Annual B+ Golf Outing, Dinner, & Auction at the DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, DE. It’s really two events — join us for the whole day or, if you’re not a golfer or don’t have the time, please join us just for the Dinner & Auction. You don’t have to get dressed up and the Dinner/Auction tickets are only $60. We’re basically breaking even on that but we want to fill the room and have a successful auction. This is a fundraiser, after all! 🙂
We will have a famous artist, Erwin Dazelle, coming over from France for our event and he will paint a ‘live’ drawing right there, on the spot, at our Dinner. There will be a lot of great auction items.
Get a group of friends/co-workers/enemies – I don’t care 🙂 and buy a table for a fun night.
If you have any cool auction donations, we would be very much appreciative of those donations as well. Sports tickets, travel stuff, and unique experiences are always popular. Feel free to contact me directly at Joe@LiveLikeAndrew.org. Thanks.
Registration information can be found here.

Interesting Cancer Research TED Talk
Dr. Jim Olson, of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Seattle Children’s Hospital, asked me to share his TED talk with you. While the discoveries and approaches that he and his team have taken are not exclusively for the benefit of childhood cancer, much of their work has been in pediatric oncology and I think you may find his discussion intriguing. It’s 22 minutes but very interesting. Click here to listen to his talk.

Fundraiser for Justin
Justin is a young man from Aston, PA who has been battling leukemia for the last three years. As a result of a recent relapse, Justin will now be preparing for a bone marrow transplant. To help his family with the mounting medical bills, their friends are hosting a fundraiser at the Brookhaven Borough Hall (PA) on Sunday Sept 15th from 1-5pm. Please contact Barbara at 610-457-5777 if you’re interested in attending.

Thank you all so much for your continued support, both of my family and our Foundation. We can only make a difference in this battle to the extent that you want to get involved.
Thank you!!!
