Mon. June 6th
It was a bittersweet day today as the Dedication Ceremony was held at the Nemours Center for Childhood Cancer Research (NCCCR) High Throughput Screening (HTS) Lab in Wilmington, DE. Thanks to your support, the grant that we awarded NCCCR funded a robot that can accomplish in 3 days what a bench scientist would take 3 years to accomplish. This is the first such lab in the state of Delaware and it will greatly accelerate the drug development process. You’ve heard me reference this before, but today was the formal dedication.
It was very important to Chris, Ali, and me that the scientists never forget their ‘customers’ – the brave kids fighting cancer. For that reason, the plaque below will be placed on the wall next to the HTS robot. The plaque reads “In recognition of the generous support of The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation. Always remember why we work so hard – for Andrew and all of the children fighting cancer.”
Thank you and congratulations to Dr. Raj, Dr. Napper, and all of the dedicated professionals at NCCCR and their counterparts at AI duPont Hospital for Children.
Now let’s get that robot cranking and find some new ‘smarter’ chemotherapy!
In honor of Andrew and all the kids…
