B+ Heroes 200 Presented by BCKSTGR
It was a pretty cool event on Saturday at the “B+ Heroes 200 Presented by BCKSTGR” at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, NJ. As you’ll see in the picture, B+ Hero, Nathan Silpath, was selected to wave the Green Flag to start the race. B+ Hero, Joey Farrell, waved the checkered flag while the B+ #45 car crossed the finished line in 5th place with Hugh Plumb behind the wheel. Both Nathan and Joey got to attend the pre-race Drivers’ Meeting and received a very warm ovation from the drivers. Thank you to Grand-Am, Mark Raffauf, BCKSTGR, Al, Hugh, and all of the drivers for making this day so special.
Before the race, we hosted a big tailgate party for about 65 B+ Heroes and their families. There was a lot of good food and some of the kids were even able to leave with little race cars donated to us by BMW. Thank you, Al and Hugh, for your hospitality and generosity.

Kids Helping Kids Fight Cancer
As you know, I am a BIG fan of “kids these days”. There are so many inspirational stories of “kids helping kids fight cancer”. The B+ Foundation wouldn’t be where it is today and we wouldn’t be able to help so many families if it weren’t for kids. The latest example is that of a Salesianum School student who wanted to honor B+ Hero, Savannah Pauley, by making pink and blue turtle design ties. Chase Cowan never got to meet this amazingly inspiring young lady, who now watches over us from Heaven. Chase also chose to give all of the proceeds from the ties to The B+ Foundation to fight childhood cancers. Please take a minute to read the article about Chase and Savannah on the link below. Chase, thank you so much for having such a good heart and for being a role model for all of us.

Starboard Restaurant & Bar (Dewey Beach, DE) and Low Digit Tags Team Up to Help The B+ Foundation
For those of you who are not local to DC/MD/PA/DE/NJ, this part of my update will probably make absolutely NO sense :). It’s truly a Delaware thing. In Delaware, there’s a huge market for the old black and white porcelain license plate tags from the old days. If you have one that is single or double digits, you can sell it for literally thousands of dollars.
Building upon this longstanding craze, LowDigitTags.com and the ultra popular Dewey Beach bar, The Starboard, have come up with a very cool way to help us fight childhood cancers. The line to get into The Starboard at certain times is legendary. Well, not with the VIP Black Tag! There will be 25 numbered VIP metal cards made that will allow the bearer and their guest the opportunity to bypass the line and walk right into the bar/restaurant through a VIP line. It’s the ultimate in Dewey Beach status and it gets you right in.
From now until this coming Saturday, the 25 VIP Black Tags are available for auction on eBay. The auction will close on Saturday, May 19th with a fundraiser at The Starboard. You’ll see me sitting in the parking lot selling specially designed B+ tee shirts. The Starboard and LowDigitTags.com are not keeping one cent of the money. All proceeds will go to The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation. Please visit the link below to place a bid. And, remember, if not for you, this is a great gift idea.

P.S. A belated Happy Mother’s Day to all. My heart goes out, though, to those Moms who have suffered losing their child from this world. May you somehow receive the strength of your child.
Yesterday was a sad Mother’s Day for me, but certainly not on the level of a Mom losing a child. I realized that for the first time in probably 45 years, I didn’t make or buy a Mother’s Day card. My Mom went to Heaven on Aug. 29, 2011.
Make it a great week.
