Have I got an amazing story for you tonight!

As you know, I’ve been bugging you to vote for Ali at www.nascar.com/award. I HATE asking for anything, but if it’s going to change the lives of 200 families battling childhood cancer, I’ll do it. I’m not asking you for me…sadly, it’s not going to bring My son back. I worry that people will stop reading and responding to our posts, either because we’re bugging them, it’s too hard to face the reality of childhood cancers, they’ve felt that they’ve done their part, they think they’re too busy, or a host of other reasons.

And then comes along Keith Powell!

Keith is blind. Up until last week, he could only see shapes and light. Now, due to a hemorrhage, all he sees is total darkness. This man has every reason to be mad at the world and feel sorry for himself. He’s got every reason to be focused on his health and nothing else. But, he’s not.

With the assistance of his wife, Luanne, he insisted that he wanted to literally vote for Ali every day so that we might have a chance to win $100,000 to help families of kids with cancer! I was bowled over when Luanne shared this with me. What an inspiring man and a role model for us all. Not just for this contest, but for life.

Keith, thank you for lifting me up and inspiring me. I feel so fortunate to share the story of your heart with all of our supporters. How can we not win the battle against childhood cancers when we have people like Keith and Luanne on our team!!!
