Today, I would like to salute members of what I believe to be one of the noblest professions – our armed forces.
Whether they work as a radioman in WWII or a Seabee building roads in Vietnam or watching over the DMZ or ducking tow missiles in Desert Storm or flying a BlackHawk in Afghanistan or any of dozens of other roles, our servicemen and servicewomen put their service to our country before their own personal safety. Of course, many will give the ultimate sacrifice for us – their lives. And, for all soldiers, when they are sworn in, they accept the fact that they may pay this ultimate sacrifice.
I have always liked the fact that if I don’t like my job, I could always tell my boss where to go and get up and leave. (Up until this job, of course.) Soldiers, of course, serve without questioning and don’t have the options that the rest of us have. They may not agree with a particular mission, but they accept their responsibility, honor their commitment, and serve with distinction. While the media will give great coverage to the horrible crimes committed by a fraction of 1% of our armed forces, we don’t always hear about the incredible courage and honor demonstrated by the other 99.99999%.
I am not only extremely proud of our veterans, but I’m also proud to see the progress that our country has made with respect to our treatment of soldiers. And, I’m not very knowledgeable about this, but I’m sure there’s more we can be doing for our veterans of all ages; particularly as it relates to veterans benefits.
Dad, Norm, Dan, Tom, Bob, and all of our veterans, thank you for your service!

B+ Hero, Rina Goldberg ( http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/rinag ), is producing her own film called The Magic Bracelet. This girl is AMAZING! Please take a look at a short video on the making of Rina’s film and make sure you stop by her CB website to tell her how awesome she is! Thanks.

I would like to thank Valentina Giribaldi and Al Szolack for asking for donations to The B+ Foundation in lieu of birthday gifts. That is extremely thoughtful of you!
I would also like to thank the Costello family for their recent donation of “Change for Charity”. This is a great idea that you may want to copy. The Costellos collect their spare change in a jar and, when it’s full, they select a charity to be the beneficiary of their spare change. Believe me, it adds up!

Finally, thank you to Delta Gamma (UD), Gamma Phi Beta (UD), and St. Anthony’s HSA for inviting me to speak to your groups this week. Please keep all of our brave B+ Heroes in your prayers and thank you for your continued support.
Live Like Andrew – share a smile with someone today. This little gesture will go a long way.
