Paying it Forward
When we started The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation back in 2007, we printed cards that we called "Pay it Forward" cards. We still have them and we love hearing about the nice ways that people "Live Like Andrew" and do nice things for others.
I was really taken aback recently when we started receiving memorial donations in honor of a man whose name didn't ring a bell to me. It turns out that this man, Butch, has a son who is battling cancer and we helped out the family several months ago. When Butch sadly passed away recently, his family wanted to honor him while helping children with cancer while also expressing gratitude to The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation. They kindly asked for memorial donations in honor of Butch be sent to us. It was our honor to help Butch's family as Daniel fights cancer and we are so humbled and appreciative that we can now help even more families as part of Butch's legacy.
Kids Helping Kids Fight Cancer™
Allow me to share with you a letter that I received this week from a high school football booster club in Michigan.
“We are pleased to present a check for $2,000 to The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation.
On October 12, 2018, (our high school) designated their football game to cancer awareness. We sold cancer awareness shirts, bracelets, and pins. We also provided hot cider and donuts for a donation in an effort to raise money for a childhood cancer charity.
We chose to donate to your organization after reading Andrew's story, learning about your family assistance program, the support you provide for research, and your advocacy work.
Thank you for all you do and keep up the great work!"
It is such an honor to be recognized by people all over the country for the work that we do. TOGETHER, we can do so much for our kids with cancer! Please give some thought during this holiday season about how you and your community can help us make a difference in the fight against childhood cancers.
Enjoy the holiday season. Keep it in perspective. :)
