Remembering Christian!

Remembering Christian

Just before Thanksgiving, I lost another friend. B+ Hero Christian Malmgren was a truly bright light. When he walked into a room, EVERYONE knew it. Christian battled Ewing’s Sarcoma and AML (Leukemia) for 6 years and was so incredibly brave. He died at 17.

There were so many things that I admired about this young man and I hesitate to mention just one because I know I will forget to mention others. One thing, though, that I must say is that Christian did not allow cancer to define him. Oh no! Christian was his own person. Yeah, he had cancer, but it didn’t stop Christian in becoming the person that he wanted to be. He truly made EVERYONE better. I honestly can say that I will NEVER forget Christian. I am a better person because I knew Christian Malmgren. Please keep his family in your prayers.

B+ On The Road

It might take me a few days to thaw out, but I had the chilly honor of sharing Andrew’s story and the mission of The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation with hundreds of students at the University of Minnesota. Childhood cancer knows no boundaries and we thank the Minnesota students for helping us raise money and awareness from their stadium climb. Btw, the wind chill bottomed out at -18 degrees. I am still smiling, though, underneath the mask.

B+ on NPR

The non-profit investigative ProPublica published a story about St. Jude. It’s a little long, but extremely interesting. It will likely generate strong feelings on both sides but it is definitely worth reading. As a follow-up, NPR show 1A had one of the writers on the air and invited me to be a guest as well. I do a LOT of speaking, but speaking live to 4,000,000 people for a 30 minute segment is a first for me. Here is the link if you’re interested in the NPR piece.

Please consider The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation in your holiday giving and end-of-year plans. You can make donations online, send checks, and we can also accept appreciated stock transfers. Thank you so much for your support.
