Research Awards Announced!

B+ Foundation Fall Research Grant Cycle Awards

Thanks to the efforts of our world-class Scientific Advisory Board, we are pleased to announce the selection of our 10 awardees from our current research grant cycle. As background, we received over 50 proposals (fyi…a proposal is 50+ pages) from pediatric oncology investigators from all over the world. While I wish we could fund more, we are proud and excited to share with you the 10 that will receive $1,500,000 in aggregate. The projects selected represent a range of various types of childhood cancers.

The Awardees hail from Baylor College of Medicine (TX)(3 recipients), NYU, Mount Sinai (NY), Washington Univ (St Louis), the National Cancer Institute, Case Western (OH), Oregon, and Yale. Visiting with B+ Heroes Lucca and Leo at Mattel UCLA Children’s Hospital

It’s not often enough that we get to meet the families that we help. Today, we got that opportunity at Mattel UCLA Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles. It’s really a team effort to help these very deserving families of kids with cancer. In these pictures are two B+ Hero families (Lucca & Leonardo), our extremely generous supporters from The Change Reaction (Greg Perlman, Wade Trimmer, Daphna Gerendash), Mattel pediatric hem/onc Social Worker Marla Knoll, and my colleagues Carly Bergstein and Ashley Wagner. I had tears in my eyes as Lucca’s & Leo’s families shared their childhood cancer journey stories and discussed the impact of the support that they received from The Change Reaction via The B+ Foundation. It was honestly one of the most powerful experiences that I have had in the 17 years leading this organization. I’m so grateful for the role that everyone plays to help our families and I’m so appreciative for the powerful, vulnerable testimony from the families.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas or Hanukkah. Appreciate every moment.

B+
