Good-bye (for now) Katie Wilson
Katie Wilson started with The B+ Foundation in June, 2010 right out of college. At the University of Delaware, Katie was a Co-Chair of the Executive Committee of UDance, our 12 hour dance marathon. Katie helped grow our event from raising $25,000 in 2009 to $118,000 in 2010. Her booby prize for her success was a job offer from me! Her challenge was to export the success we had in Newark to schools all around the country. And, she did a great job. She was instrumental in our success at Northwestern, Clemson, VA Tech, Kappa Delta Rho, and many, many campuses. And, she worked side-by-side with me managing our very labor-intensive Family Assistance Program. And, she did so much more.
Yesterday was Katie’s last day with us and I can’t thank her enough for her dedication to the fight against childhood cancer, our B+ Heroes, The B+ Foundation, and to my son, Andrew. Like a lot of recent graduates, Katie wants to experience NYC, so she took a job up there but I know she will continue to be involved with The Foundation. I’m even trying to twist her arm to run the Hamptons Marathon/Half Marathon with our team. Thank you, Katie, for your passion and dedication in fighting for our kids. There will always be a place for you in this foundation.

United Way
I hope everyone who has supported us via the United Way reads this note. Periodically, I receive donor reports for the various geographically-based United Way offices. I just received one recently and was overwhelmed by the number of people who are supporting us. Unfortunately, the reports don’t list contact information so I can’t thank you individually. Please know how much we appreciate your generous support. We couldn’t do what we do without you!

B+ Racing Team
The B+ Racing Team raced at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course today in Lexington, OH. Congratulations to co-drivers, Al Carter & Hugh Plumb, on their 7th place finish. While I wasn’t able to join them on this trip, our drivers visited Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH last Wed to visit children battling cancer and put some smiles on their faces. As I’ve said before, not one penny of our donors’ money goes to fund this race team sponsorship as Al Carter, a cancer survivor himself, puts us on his car for free to help us increase awareness of childhood cancer.

Alliance for Childhood Cancer Action Days
Earlier this week, I spent 2 days in Washington, DC in support of the Alliance’s effort to increase federal funding and support of our battle. On Tuesday, some 200-250 appointments were scheduled on Capitol Hill with members of Congress and/or their staffers. Your B+ Foundation was recently voted in as a member of the Alliance, which is a pretty big deal.

Featured Family
I just have to share with you this nice picture of a family of B+ Heroes. The handsome fellow on the left is Patrick. Patrick is 8 yrs old and in remission with Stage 2 Hepatoblastoma. Next to Patrick is his little bro, Collin. Collin is 6 yrs old and he has been battling Leukemia (ALL). Next to Collin is Mom and Sibling Hero, Lacey. Yes, you read this correctly, Mom & Dad have 2 of their 3 children battling cancer. Mom says that “thank you could never cover the gratitude our family feels to those who extend a helping hand”, like the supporters of The B+ Foundation. You are making a difference in a lot of people’s lives! Thank you.
