It's SO Easy to Help

B+ Hero, Hayden

Hayden Weiss. Andrew's bench

One of our B+ Heroes, Hayden, took her parents to Ocean City, NJ recently and decided to take a break for ice cream on a bench on the boardwalk (you know how parents get tired from all the walking :)

Wouldn't you know that the bench they sat on was "Andrew's Bench"!!!  What a great picture - one of the cutest kids in the world sitting on my son's bench.  They also saw an incredible rainbow a few hours later...no lie.

Andrew McDonough Cup at FC Delco Players Cup Tournament

Yesterday, I had the high honor of presenting the Andrew McDonough Cup to the U14 Championship Bracket winners, the Levittown Gunners (NY), at the FC Delco Players Cup.  The FC Delco Players Cup attracts nearly 800 soccer teams from 15 states and Canada.  To honor one of their own, FC Delco took former MLS player, Ben Olsen's name off the cup and re-named it the Andrew McDonough Cup several years ago.  U14 is the last age group that Andrew played in and it means so much to Chris, Ali, and me that they continue to honor our buddy.  Congratulations to both Levittown and Penn Fusion (PA) on a hard-fought match and thank you to the FC Delco Players Cup, Continental FC, APL Tournaments and everyone involved.  I know Andrew was smiling down.

Illini 4000 Begins Their Trek

Can you imagine riding 4,000 miles across the country on your bike???  Sunday morning, I had the privilege of addressing the 18 member of the Illini 4000 team in Central Park.  These college students from the University of Illinois left NYC on Sunday and will finish their journey in San Francisco on August 7th.  All the while, this dedicated group will raise money for several cancer charities, including The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation.  Thank you, Illini, safe travels & tailwinds!

Great Story

As you probably will recall, we had a group of 21 runners finish the Nashville Rock n Roll Half Marathon about a month ago.  After two of our runners (Jack & Libby) finished, they told us about a guy that ran alongside of them and, after seeing their B+ childhood cancer shirts, he thanked them and said that he was going to send us a donation. We got the nicest note - and a check for $250 - from this kind man this morning. How cool!
