Thurs. Oct. 17th
Sorry that I haven’t written in a little while…no shortage of things going on. That’s a big part of the reason that I haven’t updated you.
B+ Events Update
Thank you to Bucknell (PA), Towson (MD), and the Delaware Distance Classic for including us as the beneficiary of your events over the last month. Not only have you helped us raise money to fight childhood cancers, but you’ve also generated a lot of much needed awareness.
We have two amazing groups coming down the homestretch with their events – the University of Texas – AEPhi and New York University. The AEPhi ladies recently set our 3 day fundraising record by raising $33,000 in 72 hours! They’re up to their revised goal of $50,000 and they have 2 weeks left. Keep in mind, this is just ONE sorority! Our inaugural NYDM at NYU will be held on Nov. 23rd. The NYU students have been great and today, they passed their goal of $46,000 ($1,000 for each of the 46 kids diagnosed each school day!). I can’t wait to join them in Manhattan next month.
Thank you to LaSalle University (PA), University of Delaware (UD) ROTC, and UD-Kappa Delta Rho for inviting me to campus to speak with you.
Had a great kick-off meeting today for SALSThon 2014 at Andrew’s school, Salesianum. In its inaugural year last year, hundreds of students danced from 9pm-5am and raised an incredible $73,000 with the help of their sister schools, Ursuline Academy and Padua Academy.
If you’re in DE/MD/PA and want some fun exercise TONIGHT (Thurs 10/17), come join us on The Green at the University of Delaware for the “UDance Rave Run”. You don’t have to be a good runner but you’ll wear glow sticks, hang with some B+ Heroes, and have a lot of fun while helping the students fight childhood cancer. Registration starts at 6pm; the run starts at 6:45pm. See you there.

Thank-You Note for YOU!
“Me and my daughter just arrived from St. Jude (we live in New Orleans) and I received your check. I have no words to express my gratitude. My heart fills up when I think of people who have gone through such a tragic loss and still find happiness in helping others. I think you and everyone involved in this Foundation play as much of a role as doctors do. Just to know that there are people who care so much for someone you have never met, but you understand the struggle is amazing to me and it me feel like we are not alone. Thank you. God bless you.” Brooklyn’s Mom

Summary of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
Little by little, I think we’re starting to be heard. I see progress being made in the awareness battle but we’ve got a long way to go. With credit to my friend, Bob Piniewski of People Against Childhood Cancer (PAC2), please take a look at some highlights. Great re-cap, Bob; you’re so valuable to the childhood cancer community.

For many chapters of the United Way, you can simply write in our name and federal tax id number (42-1741037). Thank you very much for your generosity and support.

Thank you for your support in helping us fight childhood cancer. Because of you, we are one of the LARGEST grantors of financial assistance to families of kids with cancer in the country. We can only do what you enable us to do. Thank you!
