Til We Meet Again, Nathan!

Today, I went to the funeral of my friend...my 16 year old friend, Nathan Silpath.

Nathan bravely battled 3 different types of cancer over the past 7 years.

During all of these tremendously difficult times, Nathan was so courageous and had such an incredible attitude. And, he was a REALLY funny kid. From trash talking Jeff Gordon at the NASCAR banquet in Vegas, to watching him talk to his idol, Jimmie Johnson, to nailing me with a super soaker filled with toilet water (yeah, that still freaks me out), to schooling my nephew Bob McDonough (who is a Major in the Army) about military tanks, this young man was special! I am a better person because I got to know Nathan (Nathans Story) and will forever carry a piece of him in my heart.

Thank you very much Lorne Peterson and all of the police officers and firefighters from Delaware and Maryland agencies who came out in force yesterday at the viewing and today at the funeral. What an incredible send-off from one group of HEROES to another HERO.

This picture of my friends (Nathan on the left, Leon Huhn in the middle) is one of my favorites. Both of these guys are up in Heaven with my Andrew. We miss you all so much!
