The world of childhood cancer seems to elicit emotions at both ends of the spectrum…and not so much in the middle. Today, I share terribly heart-breaking news and tremendously uplifting news.

Please keep B+ Hero Luna’s family in your thoughts and prayers. Luna, treated here in DE, passed away yesterday at the age of 4.? Childhood cancer MUST be stopped.
Leave messages for Luna’s family and friends at “Help Support Luna’s Fight Against Cancer” on Facebook.

B+ Hero Gabby, “adopted” by Alpha Epsilon Phi NYU, got great news today! After being diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma in February 2012, scans showed Gabby has No Evidence of Disease!
Leave Gabby and her family messages at: Prayers for Gabrielle.

I have been on the bone marrow registry for 24 years waiting for that call. It still hasn’t come. BUT, B+ supporter, Maggie, joined the bone marrow registry at a B+ FUN Raiser in April, 2009. Today, she learned that she is a MATCH! While obviously more testing needs to be done, this is amazing news. The way that I look at bone marrow donations is that this generous gesture gives a desperate person and their family a great chance at an extension of their life. It may be 6 weeks, 6 months, or 60 years. If you’ve ever been a family waiting for a match or have spoken to one, you know this is like hitting the Powerball!!!
Thank you, Maggie, and everyone who has joined the Bone Marrow Registry.

Please keep Luna’s family, and all of the families of kids with cancer, in your prayers.
This could absolutely be YOU tomorrow.
