#24ForACure & CCAM
What is #24ForACure and CCAM???
September 3, 1992 was a really special day for our family. It was the day that Andrew John McDonough was born and our #FamilyOfFour was complete. This coming Saturday marks Andrew's 24th birthday, his 10th in Heaven. It is a very bittersweet day because Sept 3rd is Andrew's birthday, but he's not here with us to celebrate together.
So, to honor Andrew and help fight childhood cancer, we're creating a special campaign for Saturday called #24ForACure. In honor of Andrew's 24th birthday, we're asking people to contribute $24 to The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation to help families of kids with cancer and fund research. Any amount donated will be very much appreciated. Please also take to social media and spread the #24ForACure hashtag. We have a surprise in store with a famous supporter who will be posting messages to her followers and she literally has MILLIONS of them...like over 13 MILLION on Instagram alone!!!
Today starts the first day of CCAM - Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. While I think protecting our children from cancer should be the focus of every month, let's make September really count. Please visit our B+ FB page and you'll be able to add a CCAM gold ribbon onto your profile picture to help us spread awareness.
And, for those of you in Delaware and Maryland, please visit any of Seasons Pizza's 25 or so locations. All this month, you'll be given the chance to add a $1, $3, or $5 donation to The B+ Foundation onto your bill. I love going into Seasons and seeing all the B+ hangtags on the walls with your names on them. If Chick-fil-A is more to your liking, please visit Chick-fil-A in Concord Mall as they will be holding the same kind of promotion ALL month. Eat out a LOT this month at Seasons and Chick-fil-A and please thank them for supporting our kids. There aren't enough companies on our team yet.
Congratulations B+ Hero Christian!
I had the privilege of joining B+ Hero Christian at his "End of Chemo" party at A.I. DuPont Hospital on Monday. This kid truly embodies the B+ spirit. He has battled through treatments with an ever-present smile on his face. He just lights up the room and is an inspiration to everyone who is lucky enough to meet him. Our prayers go out to Christian and his family for continued progress.
Hey NASCAR Fans!!!
More to come on this, but just to tease you, a top NASCAR driver has selected The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation as his local charity for his upcoming visit to Dover in early October. There may just be a Meet & Greet session for B+ Heroes and their families as well. Who is the driver? Well, he's sitting at #5 in the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings right now...and he was Ali's host driver at Dover when she was honored a few years ago by NASCAR. One of the many 'good guys' of NASCAR!
Please don't forget, Saturday is Andrew's birthday. #24ForACure!!!
