B+ Hero Updates

Billy Joel Gets Opportunity to Meet B+ Hero, Alex Blythe

Yeah, you read that right!  :)  Billy Joel was lucky enough to meet our B+ Hero, Alex, last night before his show in Philly.  Alex is a big Billy Joel fan and, thanks to B+ Board Member, Michael Goldberg, and his friends at LiveNation, Alex says he can now "cross this one off my bucket list".  Alex is now battling his 4th bout with cancer in the last 6 years.  This time the cancer has spread to his brain.  Nothing seems to get this kid down, though.

B+ Hero Taylor Helland's News

The biopsy results that came back yesterday were not what anyone wanted to hear.  It appears that Taylor's colon cancer has now spread to her breasts.  Like Alex above, you just would not believe this young lady's attitude.  As I write this, she's rehearsing routines for her sorority's (Chi O) upcoming recruitment at her school (TCU).  She's truly amazing!  The news had to hit her and her family like a ton of bricks, though.  While we can't change the news, we can send prayers and good wishes their way.  Please take a minute to check in on Taylor and leave nice messages for her on her Caringbridge website.  (Incidentally, her profile picture on Caringbridge is from when she joined us on stage last March at UDance.  It was a treat having the Texans come up to Delaware for this event.)

B+ Hero Danny Feltwell Meets the Eagles

Several years ago, we paired B+ Hero, Danny Feltwell, with the University of Delaware football team.  It has been a tremendous experience.  On Wed, Danny got a chance to attend the closed training camp practice of the Philadelphia Eagles and meet a lot of players like Tim Tebow, DeMarco Murray, and many others.  The highlight, I think, for Danny was seeing his UD buddy, and now Eagles wide receiver, Mike Johnson.  Mike signed with the team about 2 weeks ago and is living the dream right now.  And, he got a boost from seeing his B+ Hero, Danny.  I'm sure Danny will be at the Linc on Sunday when former Blue Hens, Joe Flacco and Nick Boyle, come to town to take on the Birds.

With the exception of the fact that they left off the "+" sign in our name :)  please see a nice article on philadelphiaeagles.com about Danny's visit.

Make it a great weekend.
