Changing the World in Andrew's Name

Well, July is just about over.  And, as much as I like the summer, July is always a tough month for my family and me since July 14th is the anniversary of Andrew's passing.  Thank you all for the kind comments.  This might come as a surprise to you, but when you lose a child (or a brother when you're a kid), it doesn't really get much easier as time passes. This is no disrespect to my Mom or Dad who have passed (I love them tremendously), but I don't think of them multiple times each day.  With Andrew, I think of him ALL of the time.

B+ Student Leadership Academy

I am so deeply indebted to the ladies that I work with and the students who give so much of their time to build Andrew's legacy and help his Foundation fight childhood cancer.  On the weekend of my birthday and Andrew's anniversary, my co-workers hosted 30+ young people from all over the country (from as far away as LA) for our annual B+ Student Leadership Academy. While I only spent a little time with them, I am always so impressed and energized by their goodness.  One evening, the students and several B+ Hero Families all got together for some fun time at the Wilmington Blue Rocks minor league baseball game (see picture).

Sidney Kimmel Medical School at Thomas Jefferson University

For the 9th year in a row, I had the great privilege of speaking to first year medical students during their very first week of school.  I am so impressed that the leadership of Jefferson believes that hearing from a patient family warrants time during such a critical juncture. I hope that I reached even a handful of the 272 future doctors and, in some small way, made them better doctors.

13th Annual B+ Golf Outing, Dinner, & Auction

Want to join us for golf and/or dinner and our auction.  Click here for more information about our September 23rd event at the DuPont Country Club. We've got a fun day planned with a super impressive young B+ Hero speaker in Reena Robinson.  Please contact Joe@LiveLikeAndrew.org if you're interested in a sponsorship or if you have a cool, unique auction package to donate.  Can never have enough of either!  Thanks.

Enjoy the summer...and don't complain about the heat.  You're lucky to experience it.  I was visiting a little 3 year old girl in the hospital today who has been diagnosed with a brain tumor.  Trust me...she'd rather be outside in the heat...and the same goes for her parents.
