Well, Ali has got some big news! After going through sorority ‘rush’ over the past couple weeks, she accepted an invitation to join Alpha Delta Pi. Not being a “Greek” myself, I’m getting a crash course. I’ve learned that Ali’s sorority is the oldest in the country. More importantly, Ali really clicked with a lot of the girls and she’s super excited to be a sister of ADPi. She was really impressed with a lot of the young ladies that she met from the various (9) sororities. I hope this will make the Spring semester a little more pleasant than the Fall semester. Congratulations, Ali!!!

“Turn away from sin and be faithful to the Gospel” (Mark 1:15)

This is what I was told today as I received ashes. How much simpler can it get - ‘turn away from sin’ and ‘be faithful to the Gospel’? It sounds so easy, but it’s not always so. We allow ourselves to be clouded with earthly things that make these simple commands difficult. May God give us the strength to follow these commands and do the ‘right things’.

Another line often recited at Ash Wednesday services is:

“Thou art dust and unto dust thou shalt return” (Genesis 3:19)

As I read this, I think of the many times that we ask “how come God takes good people from this world so early?”. As you’ll recall, Andrew asked this question in a freshman paper and I asked this question after Andrew went to Heaven. However, in my opinion (and I don’t claim to be a theological expert :) ), I don’t think this world is the prize. To say that murders and rapists “get” to live implies that this is the big prize. It’s not! Eternal salvation is the BIG prize. Andrew HAS the big prize…selfishly, though, I just wish he didn’t go to Heaven so soon. Physically, Andrew is not with us and that hurts us indescribably. But, Andrew’s soul is alive and well and with us forever!!!

Please try to commit to making this world a little nicer place this Lenten season (regardless of whether you observe Lent or not. :) )

Live Like Andrew - make a difference in someone’s life today.

B+

God bless you.
