Do you pay for your child’s scans or for rent?
That was the question facing Jose’s family. Jose is a 16 year old boy battling a germ cell tumor. His family is struggling with the medical bills on top of their household expenses. They have insurance but they have very high co-pays. Jose is due for scans and his family cannot afford both rent and the scans. Can you imagine this dilemma? Your child MUST get these scans. But, by paying for these, you may be putting the entire family out on the street. Thanks to you, The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation has helped this family so that they don’t have to make the choice between scans and rent. Jose WILL get his scans and the family will pay this month’s rent. Thank you!

7th Annual B+ Fighting Childhood Cancer 5k Run/Walk
Sign up today!
You can register as an Individual or, better yet, we recommend you create a team…it could be in honor of a B+ Hero, a group from work, a sports team/swim club, school, neighborhood… It’s up to you and really easy to set up. Once you set up the team, get EVERYONE you know to register. Then, all they need to do is forward the email (that we provide on your team page) to everyone they know. This will not only raise money in an easy way but it helps us raise awareness about childhood cancer. As with everything we do, when a lot of people do a little, it’s amazing what we can accomplish. Think about all of the Joses that you can help.

Older “Kids” Helping Kids Fight Cancer
Often times, you read my stories about young kids giving up their birthday money to fight childhood cancer, running bake sales, dance marathons, etc. Kid have been GREAT to us. Today, though, I want to share a couple of fundraising stories about older kids…like 60 years older and more. The residents of two local retirement communities recently did fundraisers for The B+ Foundation. What made these fundraisers so special was not the money raised but the theme attached to the fundraisers…they have embraced the B+ message.
The Methodist Country House in Greenville, DE had a Valentines Day program called “Kisses for Caring” and Cokesbury Village in Hockessin, DE had “Kisses O’Caring” around St. Patrick’s Day. In both cases, the residents could purchase a little gift bag of Hershey’s kisses for $2 and could have it delivered to any other resident or staff member as a thank-you and a sign of love and friendship. Collectively, they raised well over $500 to help us fight childhood cancer. How cool is that?!
