Keeping Busy!

Disney Half Marathon

Twenty people got an early start to their day (5:30am race start!) as they represented The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation Running Team at Walt Disney World's Star Wars Rivals Run.  Everyone completed the 13.1 miles and there were no injuries on our team!  Thank you, team, for helping to raise awareness and money for our fight.  Many of our participants were first time half-marathoners...keep that in mind as we plan for our next one in 2020!  We haven't picked a race yet, but stay tuned to B+ social media.

Kids Helping Kids Fight Cancer ™

Tis the season for our school events...here's just a sampling of the events that have happened over the past few weeks.

Charterthon (DE), St. Philip's Preschool (TX), AGThon (PA), TCNJam (NJ), Chapman Univ. (CA). Loyola Marymount Univ. (CA), North Star Elementary School (DE)

So thankful for all the kids who care enough about kids with cancer!

The B+ Foundation Takes Another Leadership Role

Once again this year, The B+ Foundation was the largest sponsor of the national conference of the Association of Pediatric Oncology Social Workers (APOSW) held last week in Phoenix, AZ.  The Social Workers are our partners in making our B+ Family Assistance Program work so efficiently and effectively.  We work with nearly 700 Social Workers around  the country to help over 2,500 families of kids with cancer a year.  We are proud to be the largest provider of financial assistance to families of kids with cancer in the country and we thank the Social Workers for their partnership.

Brave the Shave

I just returned from Bismarck, ND where the 12th Annual Brave the Shave was held.  Brave the Shave is a North Dakota-based group that raises money from heading shaving events all over ND.  This year's 'flagship' event saw nearly 400 people shave their head and well over $300,000 was raised from this one event alone.  There are 3 more events this month and then the official tally will be announced.  Last year, they raised over $500,000 to fight childhood cancer.  The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation partners with Brave the Shave and we are their research arm.  Additionally, Brave the Shave supports local families with financial assistance.  Pictured below is Pastor Schweitzer from the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church who was sporting an Auburn Tigers look before he sat in the chair to have his head and face shaved.  Incidentally, the Lutherans beat the Catholics in a side bet fundraising challenging.  :)  I LOVE competition --- the kids ALWAYS win!

Make it a great week and please keep all of our kids with cancer and their families in your prayers.
