Well, I have to share some exciting news from this weekend.
First off, Ali received her acceptance letter yesterday from her first choice school – the University of Delaware!!! We are very excited for Ali and, of course, very proud of her.
This weekend, we traveled to Richmond, VA to attend the prestigious Jefferson Cup Soccer Tournament. The highlight of the weekend was presenting the “Andrew ‘Curly’ McDonough B+ Award” following the U-14 Boys Championship game. It was very bittersweet and pretty emotional for me as I addressed the boys and their families. Congratulations to Justin Shear from the champion, South Charlotte (NC) team for winning Andrew’s award. Justin, you’re in great company – Andrew was the recipient last year. When our FC Delco friends delivered the award to us in the hospital last year, it meant so much to us. We are so grateful to the Richmond Strikers organization and Nike for honoring Andrew in this fashion. And, a very BIG thank you to Bev, Andy, and Blake Carrey for their hospitality in hosting us. (Blake, good luck in England!) Congratulations, also, to Chris Paulawski from Philly Soccer who was the runner-up for Andrew’s award. It was also nice to see our friends from Brandywine United Galaxy, CASL, and Casa Mia. (Congratulations, Casa Mia, for winning the U-15 title!)
