Another Successful Diamond State Classic
Twenty teams from around the country competed over the past 4 days in the Diamond State Classic. Not only was there a lot of great basketball played, but there were a lot of eyes opened to the world of childhood cancer. And, several kids with cancer had smiles put on their faces!
The teams who ‘adopted’ a B+ Hero did a GREAT job making their Hero feel special. The B+ Heroes sat on the bench during the games and were in the huddles and in the locker room at halftime with THEIR team. The teams also brought nice gifts for their Heroes as well. Pictured above is Trinity HS (PA) visiting B+ Hero, Joey Borowski at A.I. duPont Hospital. Since Joey had a bone marrow transplant in late November, he is still in-patient and thus, unable to attend the games. So, the team came to Joey! And, Joey’s sister, Casey, represented the family well at all of the games. The Trinity Lady Shamrocks warmed up before their games in “Team Joey” tee shirts! I couldn’t be more proud of all the teams.
I want to thank John Gretchen, Walt Connor, and all of the organizers of the Diamond State Classic not only for including us as the primary beneficiary of the tournament but for also awarding an “Andrew McDonough B+ Award” to a player in each of the 4 brackets. It was my distinct honor to present an award bearing my son’s name to the following players:
First State Orthopaedic Bracket (National Bracket)
– Torri Chestnut – Archbishop Spalding HS – Severn, MD
– Runner-up – Bretney Prescott – Bishop Ford HS – Brooklyn, NY
B+ Foundation Cup

– Runner-up – Heather Wiley – Caravel Academy – Bear, DE

One of our B+ Hero families reminded me that I haven’t spoken about Goodsearch in a long time. Goodsearch is, as you would imagine, a search engine. What makes them a little different is that they donate a little bit of money to the charity of your choice for each search that you do. We have been registered with Goodsearch for awhile, but I haven’t pushed it too hard. Perhaps I should, but I don’t want to bug you a lot about all of these different things. If you’re interested, please visit the link above and register with us by searching on “Be Positive” (they don’t let me put “B+” in as our name). One you register us as your charity, you’re done. Search away and they will send us a check. 🙂 Thanks!

Have fun tonight but be careful on the roads.
I hope 2013 brings you great health and much happiness.
