Diamond State Classic – benefiting The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation
Today, the Diamond State Classic (DSC) got underway with a full slate of games. Last year, the DSC organizers presented The B+ Foundation with a check for $15,000 as primary beneficiary of this premiere high school girls basketball tournament. Like some of our other events, we pair B+ Heroes (children with cancer) with teams in the National Bracket. It’s so cool to see the kids interacting with the high school girls and sitting on the bench during games. At Opening Ceremonies this evening, B+ Hero Joey Farrell gave the keynote address. Since the tournament is held at St. Elizabeth’s HS and Joey is a senior at St. E’s, I couldn’t think of a better speaker. Joey did an OUTSTANDING job! The tournament runs through Sunday and information can be found at www.diamondstateclassic.org.
Here is a picture from Opening Ceremonies where each team’s captain(s) came onto the court to greet their respective B+ Heroes. Trust me, it puts the outcomes of the games in a very different perspective after they meet ‘our’ kids!

Featured Family of the Week
Who is your Foundation helping?
Taylor was 11 years old when she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2009. She bravely battled the cancer, but it relapsed in September of this year. On Taylor’s 15th birthday, she passed away. Taylor’s family asked The B+ Foundation for $400 to pay for a grave marker for their child. While that’s not a typical request that we see, we approved this application so that the family can honor this brave young lady. Certainly a very different holiday season for this family.

Please pray for our kids and their families.
