I am pleased to report that The B+ Foundation Midwestern Regional Office is now officially open!  Eamon O’Neill, a graduate of both St. Mary Magdalen School and Salesianum (Andrew’s schools) is heading up our operations in the Chicago/Evanston area.  Eamon is also a Northwestern University alum, so he is very familiar with the Northwestern Dance Marathon (www.NUDM.org ) and the local area.  There are just some things that we can’t accomplish without ‘boots on the ground’ and we welcome and look forward to Eamon’s contributions.  Eamon’s responsibilities will be twofold — 1.) be The B+ Foundation Liaison with NU DM.  As you’ll recall, we are the beneficiary of NUDM ’12 and we’re hoping to break NUDM ’11’s record of raising $1,019,000.  And, 2.) significantly expand The B+ Foundation presence, message, and initiatives in the Midwest with emphasis on the Chicagoland area.  If anyone has great contacts in the Chicago area, please feel free to email me at: joe@livelikeandrew.org or Eamon at: eamon@bepositive.org . We are deeply appreciative of the Northwestern students for selecting us as NUDM beneficiary and giving us the springboard for our regional expansion.  It’s a big undertaking, but together, we can accelerate our progress in the fight against childhood cancers.

Don’t forget — Saturday, July 23rd is the “B+ Foundation Heroes 200” car race at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, NJ.  The race begins at 2:45 and will end promptly at 5:15pm.  Please come and support our B+ Racing Team and the dozens of B+ Heroes that will be in attendance.

I had the privilege of making a presentation to the Drivers Meeting at last week’s Continental Tire and Rolex Series races.  I introduced the drivers & owners to our Foundation and shared with them some exciting research that we are looking to fund.  We are hopeful that the Grand-Am Racing community will join us as we fight childhood cancers.  More to come…

Featured B+ Hero of the Week

Rather than telling you the story of a family with a child battling cancer, I just want to share with you this picture.  I just love it.  There’s not much to say about it other than this little guy was diagnosed with leukemia in January of this year and this picture was taken in March.  Doesn’t it just make you want to smile!!!  Hey, if he can smile, what’s stopping you?
