Philadelphia Premiere of Rina Goldberg’s “The Magic Bracelet”

Last night, Chris, Ali, and I had the privilege of attending the Philadelphia premiere of B+ Hero, Rina Goldberg’s movie.  Rina was an amazing young lady who passed away in December, 2011.  She developed a concept and script for a short movie, “The Magic Bracelet”.  Following her passing, The Make a Film Foundation (www.makeafilmdoundation.org ) and Rina’s parents brought her vision to the big screen.  Academy Award winning writer, Diablo Cody (“Juno”), adapted Rina’s script and many recognizable Hollywood folks jumped onboard.  I’m sure Rina was smiling down very proudly last night.  Congratulations Rina!!!   Rina’s motto was:

“Love Life, Dream Big, Be Positive”

Here’s a picture of me, Katie Wilson, Rina, Ali, and some of Ali’s ADPi sisters when we visited Rina in November, 2011 at her house.  It was an honor to get to know Rina and an honor to meet Amanda Perrotta’s family last night as well.  Amanda was an equally brave young lady who introduced Rina to Andrew and The B+ Foundation and Amanda is up in Heaven as well.

Congratulations to all B+ Hero Graduates

Tonight, I had the distinct honor of being invited by B+ Hero, Joey Farrell, and his family to join them for his graduation from St. Elizabeth’s High School.  Just 18 months ago, this kid was flying around on his bike in endurance races…and then he hit an obstacle, but not an insurmountable obstacle.  Joey was diagnosed with a brain tumor.  He battled hard and tonight, he was one of two seniors selected to speak at graduation and boy, did he hit it out of the park!  Standing O for Joe!  Congratulations to Joey, Alex Blythe (Brandywine HS), and everyone who graduated.  Graduations aren’t a lot of fun for me, but I’m really proud of these guys and happy for them.

Congratulations UDance – Jefferson Award National Winner

After being recognized on the local level, we just learned that UDance, the 12 hour dance marathon at the University of Delaware that benefits The B+ Foundation, was awarded #1st place in the “Health and Wellness” category of the Jefferson Awards’ Youth Service Challenge.  This is a national competition with 2nd and 3rd place prizes going  to groups from Wisconsin and New York, respectively.  Congratulations UDance on this well-deserved recognition!
