B+ Hero, Dane Johnson, Becomes a Member of the Talleyville Fire Company!
Thanks to Steve Catalano, Andy Ziegler, and all of the men and women of the Talleyville Fire Company, B+ Hero, Dane Johnson, and his siblings and cousin got a REALLY cool surprise yesterday. The firetruck picked them up, made a little noise 🙂 and drove them to the station house. There, the Johnsons got a tour of the station, all of the equipment and got to have lunch with the firefighters. The highlight of the day was when Dane was made an official Talleyville firefighter. He was was presented with a plaque honoring his bravery, his own badge, some gifts, and his own personalized Talleyville/B+ helmet. As an added surprise, an emergency call came in while we were there, so we got to see the firefighters in action. Talleyville FD, thank you not only for your brave and generous service to our community, but for the compassion and kindness you showed Dane and his family.

Last Saturday, 8th grader, Zack Turner and his family were honored on the field at Delaware Stadium as the “Featured B+ Hero of the Game”. Thanks to support from Astra Zeneca, we are able to feature a B+ Hero family and generate some much-needed awareness of these terrible diseases.

A Thank You Note for You
Just wanted to pass along a message to you from the Mom of a 12 year old girl battling osteosarcoma (bone cancer):
“Along this frightening path called cancer, we have found treasure. The kindness of strangers has been the most amazing and touching gift from God. Our family is struggling to walk this path physically, emotionally, and financially. Your generosity helps us not only pay bills, but lifts our hearts and fills our souls with the knowledge that people care.” Nina’s Mom

VOTE…for ALI!!!
Are you tired of all of the negative campaigning in national and local elections? Anxious for the election to finally be here? I never wade into these waters on our B+ Foundation sites other than to say that you’re either with us or against us in the battle against childhood cancers. I don’t care if a “D”, “R”, or “I” comes after the name of the elected official. Personally, though, I’m glad the election season is coming to an end.
Another election season that is almost over is the effort to help The B+ Foundation win $100,000 to help families of kids with cancer. I don’t think you need a debate or television commercials to realize this makes perfect sense. Fighting childhood cancer is something WE ALL should get behind. We have 24 days left to vote for Ali McDonough, Finalist for NASCAR’s Humanitarian of the Year Award. Ali is one of only FOUR finalists. You can vote once a day, each day, between now and Nov. 29th. It only takes a minute. And, like the election commercials, once Nov. 30th comes, you won’t have to be pestered by me about this again. 🙂 Visit www.nascar.com/award Spend a minute a day…make a difference!!!

MAKE it a great week. It’s up to you.
