Mon. Oct. 8th
Last Saturday, Nadine traveled to Towson University (MD) for their “B+ Fall Festival”. The Towson students, under the leadership of Phi Sigma Kappa, put on this event for the 2nd year. As you’ll see in the picture, B+ Hero Malik – who is 1 year into his 3+ year treatment plan for Leukemia- had a great time. Thank you, Towson Tigers, for raising awareness and much-needed funds for our battle against childhood cancers.

Last Saturday was a very busy day. During the afternoon, B+ Hero, Joey Farrell, was honored on the field during the 2nd Quarter of the University of Delaware football game. A video of Joey played on the Jumbotron and then Joey and his family waved to their 20,000+ adoring fans!!!
After squeezing in a quick birthday dinner with Ali (thank you, by the way, for all the nice messages for Ali), we headed to Eric Suro’s parents’ house to watch Eric complete an insane 140.6 mile IronMan for Childhood Cancer. Swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles, AND THEN running 26.2 miles is just beyond my comprehension. Eric did this, though, to bring awareness to the plight of our kids battling childhood cancer. And, he raised somewhere around $8,000 to help families of kids with cancer. Congratulations and thank you, Eric Suro!!!

B+ Featured Family of the Week
Kaylynn is a 5 yr old little girl who is battling DIPG, an inoperable brain tumor. She was diagnosed this past May and, unfortunately, the doctors have told the family that the prognosis is poor. Kaylynn is the middle of three children being raised by her Mom, Cheryl. Cheryl is raising the kids and supporting the family on her own since the sudden and unexpected death of her husband one year ago. Mom has taken a lot of time off from work to care for Kaylynn and has now used up both her FMLA time and her savings. The financial battle right now is to try to keep their house. Medically speaking, there are no other treatment options for Kaylynn and Mom “wants to spend her remaining time making memories and giving her daughter the opportunity to enjoy what time she has left”. Through your generosity, we have been able to provide financial assistance to this family. May God bless them at this difficult time.
