Mon. Sept. 3rd – Happy 20th Birthday, Andrew!!!
Happy birthday, Andrew.
There are no words to express the joy I felt twenty years ago when I was handed a warm, just-born baby boy to hug and kiss for the first time. That would become a pattern with
us. We are both early-risers, so you would come downstairs still warm and groggy from sleep, and curl up in my lap keeping me warm. Thank you for continuing this tradition until close to your teens – and sometimes after that if I asked nicely. Even on vacation, you and I would leave the house early for bike rides or dog walks while the rest of the house slept in. You had too much to
do to spend extra hours in bed. You would go 100 miles an hour, then fall asleep in an instant when your gas tank was empty, wherever that might be: sprawled across the kitchen chairs, sleeping through Easter brunch on a restaurant floor, face-down midway up the basement stairs. Thinking of you always makes me smile, Andrew. Thank you for so many memories. It’s those memories that keep
me warm now. If I ask nicely, will you come sit in my lap?
