Sept 22 10

Got quite a few things to share with you this evening…

1.  Last night was “Childhood Cancer Awareness Night” at Citizen’s Bank Park (Phillies stadium).  It was really nice to see that someone noticed that kids do get cancer.  A young cancer patient threw out the first pitch and the Phillies showed a nice video on the Jumbotron.  B+ Hero, Drew Koenig, was included in the montage in a photo with my buddy, Chris Grundner, President/Founder of the Kelly Heinz-Grundner Brain Tumor Foundation.  And, it was great to see the Koenig and Quesenberry families.  (Please see nice picture of Ali and Pearce on the left.)

2.  As you know, last month we celebrated “B+ Night at the Blue Rocks”.  There are three autographed, special edition B+ Blue Rocks jerseys available online.  Please check them out below.  The third one is signed by ALL of the players.

3.  We did a test run of camoflouge B+ shirts.  For whatever reason, camo shirts are more expensive to make, so we only have a few shirts in each size.  Because we have so few, we don’t have them listed on our shopping cart.  Before we order more, I want to see if there’s any interest  in these traditional green camo B+ shirts.  If you’re interested in buying one (or more), please email Katie at katie@bepositive.org.  Thanks.

4.  While I’m a little late getting to this, I want to thank Joey Borowski and his family for the awesome fundraiser they held for us at the Oasis Family Fun Center.  A lot of money was raised and everybody had a great time.  It was great seeing Joey running around and sweating like a pig.  Thanks for that sweaty hug, pal!

5.  As many of you are heading into United Way campaign season, I would like to respectfully request that you keep The B+ Foundation in mind as you do your submission.  We have write-in numbers for the following UW offices:

  • United Way of Delaware — 11776

  • UW of SE Pennsylvania — 47481

  • Any other UW offices — please write in “DE Comm Fdn - Andrew McDonough B+ Fdn”

Thanks!  Your support in the United Way and the various independent employer-managed campaigns are vital to our success.

6.  Congratulations to Ali, our Director of Social Networking!  Last week, we ranked 144th in the country and 444th (out of 5.7 MILLION) globally in terms of people/groups followed on Twitter.  Way to go, Ali!  Spread the word.

7.  Please help us show appreciation to Happy Harry’s/Walgreens, WalMart (Centerville Rd), The Pink Turtle, Marini Produce, and Fresh & Healthy Cafe for their support of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.  Each of these retailers is selling B+ Coffee to help us increase awareness and funds.  Please stop by and buy a few bags from them.  Thanks.

8.  What til you hear about the super cool Live Auction item that was donated to us today for our “4th Annual B+ Foundation Golf Outing, Dinner, & Auction” on Mon. 9/27 —-  a 1927 Chevy!!!  I’ll post a picture or two in the next couple of days.  Spread the word…we can handle proxy bidding for those that cannot join us in person.

Thank you for your continued support of our mission to help families of children with cancer and to find cures for these dreaded diseases.  Sometimes it’s a lonely fight.  Please feel free to weigh in with your thoughts via this website and also share any B+ stories.

For whatever reason, we don’t get many comments here anymore, so I’m not sure whether it makes sense to continue with updates.  Let us know.

Live Like Andrew - make a difference in at least one person’s life today!!!

B+
