12th Renal Cancer Conference at Memorial Sloan Kettering

Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) in New York City hosted an international gathering of scientists to discuss kidney cancers in children. I was honored to be a “Guest Faculty” member, which is a fancy way of just saying that I was a speaker discussing the patient family perspective of a child with cancer (even though Andrew didn’t have kidney cancer).

B+ Hero Shane

“You all have truly made my entire day. I can now use these funds to put towards other bills that are piling up from not only treatments but all of the other purchases needed to keep him comfortable.

My son was diagnosed 4 weeks ago with Burkitt's Leukemia and it was been a whirlwind ever since. He has unfortunately gotten most all of the rare side effects and even landed himself in the ICU for a few days after his initial chemo treatment due to a toxicity to one of the drugs. To say it has been scary is beyond the truth.

Thank you again for bringing a little light into this very dreary situation.”

B+ Hero Talula

Please keep Talula’s family in your prayers. So sad to learn of another child lost to cancer.

“It is with a heavy heart to share that Talula lost her cancer fight in the final rounds of treatment to a mucor infection that was simply aggressive and relentless and completely overcame her.

My wife and I want to thank you for your generosity and support. It makes a world of difference in these difficult times as we try and piece our lives back together.

I thought you might want to see a picture of Talula so I have it attached. She was tough as nails and a beautiful child that we will forever miss.

Thank you again for your kindness and generosity.”

Enjoy the weekend. Happy Father’s Day.
