Something for everyone

In this update, there’s a little bit of something for everyone from research to family stories to prevention to awareness. Thanks for taking the time to read.

White House Cancer Moonshot Meeting

I’m sorry…I know I promised pictures from the White House meeting, but I was too busy with the meeting. It’s fun going into the White House complex, even if you have to show your ID three times…and were cleared in advance. I’ve got no problem with security though. I don’t have any groundbreaking information to share with you from the meeting, other than to say that we (the childhood cancer community) have a seat at the table. We have to make our voices heard so that kids don’t get forgotten in the Moonshot project or other efforts.

My first visit to Stony Brook University

Had a great visit with the students of Stony Brook University on Long Island, NY. The students were very respectful and energized for their dance marathon to fight childhood cancer. They are a relatively new B+ group but I see a great future ahead with this passionate group of students.

“Thank you so much for you assistance and help to our family.

I’m so sorry for all you and your family went through and it’s truly unimaginable.Andrew is watching over you guys from heaven and you have an angel. He is a fighter and a true hero. It’s so sad he is no longer with us .It’s heartbreaking to see all the kids suffering in the hospitals going through cancers and other illnesses. Jacob has been on treatment since he was little over 3 years old off and on .He is also visually impaired, lost his vision due to his tumors on his left eye completely and the right is ok but not perfect He is learning how to navigate. It’s not always easy. I would like to thank you on the phone , if you please call me anytime at your best convenience at xxx-xxx-xxxx.”

“Wow! What a blessing to have a Foundation that helps with financial hardship during our darkest days. Thank you donors for providing funds to help with our electric bill. Our family operates a small business and when our 3 year old was diagnosed with Leukemia, I had to step down and focus solely on his health. We have been in survival mode ever since. Operating on one income has been extremely difficult. Your donation has helped our family tremendously. We appreciate you! We will pay it forward when we are able. Thank you B+ Foundation 💛”

Inaugural Childhood Cancer Prevention Symposium

In late October in Washington, DC, we will be one of the major sponsors of the Inaugural Childhood Cancer Prevention Symposium. To be clear, no, there is no easy fix or pill or food to take to prevent childhood cancers. But, it’s more of a scientific discussion about environmental exposures, early detection, and other epidemiological aspects. Please follow B+ social media for more information.

Make it a great weekend.
