Thanksgiving

A Special Anniversary!

Congratulations to B+ Hero, Joey B., on hitting his 1 year anniversary since his bone marrow transplant.  Joey, you and your family are an inspiration to all of us.  I hope you all get the opportunity to meet your donor.  Keep us posted.  http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/joeyb

Philadelphia Flyers Honor Andrew McDonough

At the Dec. 12th Flyers-Canadiens game, my son will be posthumously honored as the Flyers Community Hero.  There will be public service announcements (PSA) about The B+ Foundation broadcast on the Jumbotron, and the Flyers Wives Charities will be selling 50/50 raffle tickets with the proceeds going to our Foundation to help a deserving local family.  Please come out and join us on Dec. 12th.  Thank you very much to the Flyers and the Flyers Wives Charities for recognizing Andrew and including The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation in your plans.

Goosebumps

As you know, we had a VERY successful dance marathon at New York University last Saturday.  I have been told that it was the biggest first year college dance marathon fundraiser EVER…anywhere in the country, in terms of how much was raised.  Pretty amazing!

One of our B+ Heroes in attendance was a cool little guy named Marco.  Carly Bergstein, who deserves a lot of credit for the success of NYDM 13, spoke with Marco on the phone the day after the event.  Marco said “Saturday was the best day of my life, when are we doing that again?”  It gives me chills to think that we all came together and created something that this little boy said was “the best day of his life”!

North Star Elementary School Hero

I had the privilege of being invited back to North Star Elementary School in Hockessin, DE for an assembly on Heroes.  It was very humbling to be included with a young lady named Amani who organizes book drives and US Army Sgt. Brandon Swanson who bravely serves our country.  I am proud to represent Andrew, Chris, Ali, and all of you there as they are truly recognizing what we, collectively, are doing.  Thank you very much to the students and staff of North Star Elementary School.

Happy Thanksgiving

We have so much to be thankful for, both personally and for our Foundation.  This year has brought some challenges to our family and the kindness and support shown to us by so many is so greatly appreciated.  We never feel alone.  And, The B+ Foundation is OUR foundation…all of us…not just Andrew or Chris/Ali/me/Carly/Nadine’s, but yours.  We can only do what you enable us to do – whether that’s attending a B+ event, organizing your own event, or making a donation.  Together, we lift up the kids by you visiting their websites with kind notes.  Your kind thoughts and prayers have an indescribable impact on our B+ families.  More than anything, I think we give HOPE to the families.  And, having lived in a hospital for a long time with Andrew, faith and hope are critical to your survival.

I pray that you and your families have the happiness and good health that you deserve.  May God bless you.

Happy Hanukkah!

B+
