UD Ice Hockey Raises Money for The B+ Foundation
Last Saturday evening, the UD DII Ice Hockey team held a B+ fundraiser. Prior to the start of their game against Millersville (PA) University, they invited me and B+ Hero, Pearce Quesenberry, onto the ice for the ceremonial puck drop. Pearce is a former ice hockey player herself and she inspired the crowd with a short talk about her battle with brain cancer. What made the evening especially meaningful is that several of the players (see picture) were classmates of Andrew’s at Salesianum. Thank you, Danny Repka, and all of the guys for honoring Andrew, Pearce, and helping us in the fight against childhood cancers.

NASCAR Award
We’re down to 14 days of voting left! Please take a minute each day and help us win $100,000 to help families of kids with cancer. We have a one in four chance of winning and, with your support, I’m very hopeful we can win. Not only would this financial help be very valuable, but the awareness generated for our cause would be critically important as well. Please vote for Ali at:
Thanks!

B+ Running Team
I’m pleased to announce that the 2013 event for The B+ Running Team will be the Delaware Marathon. The 10th annual running of the Delaware Marathon will be held on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2013 starting on the Riverfront in Wilmington, DE. We will have participants running in the Half and Full marathon. Join our team and then you can eat all your holiday treats guilt free!!! 🙂 As with our team that ran the Hamptons (NY) Marathon, The B+ Foundation will provide a training coach, registration, transportation & lodging (if needed), pre-race dinner, B+ Running Team performance shirt, and much more. Like other charity teams, we have a fundraising commitment, but it’s lower than others.
If you live in the Delaware Valley, this is a great event to run because all of your friends and local family can come out and watch you achieve an incredible accomplishment. For those not from the area, come join us for a first class event and see Andrew’s hometown!
Whether this is your 50th marathon or you’re trying to check an item off your bucket list, please consider joining our team. The most important reason to join The B+ Running Team is that you will be helping us fight childhood cancers.
We will have an Informational Meeting in DE next month, but please feel free to email me (joe@livelikeandrew.org) if you think you might want to join us for a memorable experience and to do so much good. Please spread the word to your friends. (By the way, don’t worry about your race time. The only thing that we compete against is childhood cancer!)

I speak to a lot of groups on college campuses, particularly at the University of Delaware because it’s so close. It’s so hard because I see kids who are Andrew’s peers. They should know Andrew. Andrew should be a Junior in college now and he would either be at Notre Dame or Delaware. I wonder what his major would have been. I can see what he would look like at 20. I would love to talk to him about his classes, sports, what he wants for Christmas, anything. I would love to work out with him in the gym. It would be so exciting to think that he’s coming home for Thanksgiving next week. But, he’s not.
