Tues. Aug. 2nd

We have had awesome “B+ Sightings” at neat places all over the world.  As I mentioned in my last Journal Update, University of Chicago students Alex, Chris, and Parker climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro as a fundraiser for The B+ Foundation.

We’ve got a lot of great activities coming up in the next few weeks.  I hope you’ll come out to join us.

August 18th – B+ Night at “Annie” at the New Candlelight Dinner Theatre (NCT) in Arden, DE —  Mention “B+” when purchasing your tickets anytime during the run of Annie, and our Foundation will receive a portion of the ticket sales.  Additionally, join us on Aug. 18th for the special “B+ Night” when NCT will host several of our B+ Heroes and their families.  For more information, please visit:  http://www.nctstage.org/Main_Stage_Shows.html

August 19th – B+ Night at the Wilmington Blue Rocks  —  Join us for a night of family fun with the Kansas City Royals’ Class A minor league baseball team.  Come support our B+ Heroes as they throw out the first pitch and take the field with the players for the National Anthem.  The players will also be wearing our B+ logo on their uniforms and the jerseys will be auctioned off after the game.  Don’t ask me why, but the players will be wearing a “Toy Story”-themed uniform for that game as well.  You’ve just got to see that uniform!   http://76.12.197.222/documents/BlueRocks2011.pdf

August 24th – Beach Party at the Christiana Hilton (Churchman’s Rd) — Thanks to the Christiana Hilton and primary sponsor, the Christiana Rotary, The B+ Foundation will be the beneficiary of a big pool party on Aug. 24th.  There will be a TON of cool auction items and I understand a cruise will be raffled off as well.  There will be great food and drinks and all for a good cause.  Please stop down after work to the Christiana Hilton on Churchman’s Rd. just off of I-95 near the Christiana Hospital.

A few of you mentioned to me that I failed to tell you what category Northwestern University is in for the upcoming Classy Awards.  They are in the “Most Influential College Student or College Organization”.  If they win, the proceeds benefit The B+ Foundation.  Please take a minute to vote for NU to send them on to the finals.  Thanks.

Another interesting fundraiser that I know Andrew would have enjoyed is Summer Baseball.  Under the direction of Brad Sams, the Piedmont Baseball league has opened up their informal summer league to ALL interested kids between the age of 12-16.  It’s a very casual thing and the players have a lot of fun.  For more information, please contact Brad at 302-377-4586/bsamsnoon@hotmail.com .

I know I’m throwing a lot of events at you and asking for your support, but we cannot accomplish our mission without your support.  Just the other day, I did a 24 month trend analysis of our monthly Family Assistance Program awards to get a sense of how we’re tracking against projections.  Our actuals are greatly exceeding our projections.  In the month of June, 2011 alone, we helped 108 families and awarded $71,604.  That’s just one month!  I’m glad that we’re ‘there’ for the families in their time of greatest need…but, whew, those are some big numbers.  I don’t want to say ‘no’ to these families in need, so we just need to raise more money (as much as I hate this part of the job).  Thanks for your continued support.

Live Like Andrew – Spend time with your loved ones!

B+

Proud to be,

Ali & Andrew’s Dad
